Educational Aims

Our aims correspond fully to the national curricular framework for grammar schools. In particular we equip our students with:

fundamental knowledge and skills in the wide range of subjects taught at grammar school.

a deeper understanding of interdisciplinary knowledge.

competence in communication, social and cultural skills.

an awareness of values, which is based upon Enlightenment and Humanist ideals and as such encourages our adolescent students to critical thinking, independence of judgement and action, as well as a tolerant, open-minded attitude.

In teaching we place a particular emphasis on an increasingly interdisciplinary approach which addresses the complex connections between schools subjects. Our students should also begin to appreciate the historicity of our culture and, through consideration of its roots and development, learn to determine their own position in relation to it. Well-founded, interdisciplinary knowledge and an awareness of the historical dimension of our culture are essential for the university entrance qualification to which our students aspire.

At our school, adolescents should develop into mature individuals with an identity of their own. This allows them to face their future self-confidently and to take on responsibility for themselves, for their immediate social surrounding, for our society and our natural environment.
